Ankle
Liposuction
Ankle liposuction was first
used commercially in 1983. It involves the removal of excess
fat from female legs, around the ankle region using surgical
means. This process is mainly used in place of exercise and
dieting, deemed to have failed as a remedy to excess fats
around the ankle and led area. Most of the fats drained from
the legs are generally superficial but considered
disproportionate and displeasing to the
bearers.
Ankle
Liposuction
Ankle liposuction is done in
a rather superficial manner. It is different from the other
forms of liposuction which use a single incision to suction
fats from the body. In its function, several small holes, about
1.5 millimetres thick are perforated around the ankle and leg
area. Their function is to increase the cross-suctioning area
for fats. After this, a connula is used to suction the fats
from the body fluids. While this is going on, a medic or
plastic surgeon monitors the fats suctioned. According to
medics, a mere 25% of the fluid suctioned in this procedure is
composed of fats. This process is medically known as the
tumescent liposculpture and was first developed in
1985.

Overview
The
ankle liposuction process is an important
plastic surgery procedure. Despite the fact that the procedure
has very few grave medical implications, some complications
have been reported. Some of the popular ones
include:
1. Swelling
A few instances of swelling and
itching have been reported concerning this procedure. Normally
the pains are self eradicating, after a few
weeks.
2. Excessive liposuction
Excessive draining of fats has
also been reported in some patients. This is mainly caused by
excessive drainage of body fluids, mainly as a result of doctor
negligence.
3. Injury
This procedure may also cause
blood vessel injuries as a result of the perforations. This may
also be the case when the connulas are used in the procedure
are huge.
4. Scars
Scars are generally a must in
this procedure, especially in instances where normal size and
large cannulas are used to drain the fats from the body. This
problem is however minimised by use of the modern connulas,
which leave extremely small scars.
Safety
The
ankle liposuction procedure is classified
above average in terms of patient safety. However, this
parameter is dependent on a patient’s medical history, age, sex
and skin tone and type of surgeon. In general, the more a
vulnerable a patient is, the more the risk to full recovery.
For example, ankle liposuction is riskier for
obese 48 year old adults as compared to 20 year olds, and so
on.
Benefits
Ankle liposuction is
generally recommended for people with a good health history.
However, it has been reported in some medical journals that the
procedure is also of benefit to people with polio and other
nervous ailments.
Generally,
if one chooses to undergo this type of surgery, they should
first seek medical clarification regarding their fitness to
withstand the conditions of the surgery. It is also important
for recovering patients to keep themselves active and clean to
avoid instances of infection and contamination until they are
well.
